Arthur Blank breaks ground on $100M training facility for Atlanta’s new NWSL team

Atlanta’s future National Women’s Soccer League team breaks ground on a $100 million training facility in Marietta, signaling significant growth for local sports.

MARIETTA, Ga. — A ground breaking ceremony was held Friday in Marietta at the site that will be developed into a training facility for Atlanta’s future National Women Soccer League team.

It was announced last November that Atlanta will be home to the NWSL’s 17th team, bringing another sports franchise under the reins of Arthur Blank, who owns the Atlanta Falcons and Atlanta United.

And the City of Marietta reached an agreement last month with AMB Sports Entertainment to sell property — located on Franklin Gateway SE —  for the future headquarters and training facility of NWSL Atlanta, which is expected to debut in 2028.

“Today is an exciting milestone in our club’s history,” Blank said in a statement as he thanked others who have been a part of the process.

“We will commit our resources and experiences to develop NWSL Atlanta 2028 into a championship-level club, and I look forward to celebrating more important milestones in our club’s history in the near future,” he added.

The club will be an approximately 38,000-square-foot facility with four full fields and two half-pitches for training.

AMBSE has been working with Impact and Populous for more than six months on the design and development of this new training ground. They plan to officially open it ahead of the club’s debut season.

The construction of this facility represents an investment of more than 100 million dollars in the area.

When the project is completed, AMBSE will have invested approximately $ 200 million in the Franklin Gateway corridor through the construction of the Atlanta United and NWSL Atlanta 2028 facilities and related developments.

Marietta Mayor R. Steve Tumlin added, “On behalf of the City of Marietta, this is a joy. It’s a joy working with the team at AMBSE. We are delighted to be part of two special projects here on Franklin Gateway. There is an idiom, ‘lightning doesn’t strike twice.’ It has for us here in Marietta. Down the road, 10 years ago Atlanta United came, and then several years later, we were thrilled to hear the National Women’s Soccer League was coming to the city. What a thrill and what a journey we’ve had.”

A Private Blog Network (PBN) is a collection of websites that are controlled by a single individual or organization and used primarily to build backlinks to a “money site” in order to influence its ranking in search engines such as Google. The core idea behind a PBN is based on the importance of backlinks in Google’s ranking algorithm. Since Google views backlinks as signals of authority and trust, some website owners attempt to artificially create these signals through a controlled network of sites.

In a typical PBN setup, the owner acquires expired or aged domains that already have existing authority, backlinks, and history. These domains are rebuilt with new content and hosted separately, often using different IP addresses, hosting providers, themes, and ownership details to make them appear unrelated. Within the content published on these sites, links are strategically placed that point to the main website the owner wants to rank higher. By doing this, the owner attempts to pass link equity (also known as “link juice”) from the PBN sites to the target website.

The purpose of a PBN is to give the impression that the target website is naturally earning links from multiple independent sources. If done effectively, this can temporarily improve keyword rankings, increase organic visibility, and drive more traffic from search results.
